जिस तन लागी वो तन जाने
कोई न जाने पीर पराई
As a kid when I had gone visiting relatives, I stayed in this huge villa with a front yard, back yard, huge open verandah in the middle, about 7-8 spacious rooms, big community kitchen a store room, cow shed and the works, I kept going in and out of all these areas over and over for more than a day and could not locate a Toilet. Later, on asking, I was led through the backyard into a a jungle kind of area to a fourwalled, open roof toilet. It was quite embarrassing for me and I swore I will never go to their place again. This was in late 80s (yes I am that ancient) but it is sad and shocking that there are still so many who continue to live in worser conditions
My cook and house help, who come at 6 in the morning after bath, stay in a small chawl and they too live in similar conditions where they are used to relieving themselves before the sunrise and sunset.
#ToiletEkPremKatha is a hard hitting movie, very well written and very well made about a very stark reality of our society. As kids we used to hear so many jokes about Indians defecating in the open especially the railway tracks. We still see men and kids ‘OK’ with relieving themselves in open. While the movie addresses issues of small town mentality, but this should be applicable to a larger audience- the society as a whole. In cities I know of many who go to the malls as it has better rest room facilities than in their residential areas. And as pointed out in the movie, it is not just about building toilets but also enforcing that everyone uses it rather than the open surroundings.
Moral of the story is
-Shit is essential part of our lives.
-Talking shit can be sometimes very essential to change a thought process.
-We cant stop shit from happening.
But how much shit we can take can be completely controlled by us.
All actors have done a fantastic job. #Akshay, #Bhumi, #Sudhir Pandey, #Divyendu, #Ayesha, #Anupam kher. Each character is carefully planned and written. It is as much a writer’s movie as a director’s. Even the songs are very situational simple and sweet.
Best part , justice was done to my name. The female protagonist is called Jayaa here and she stands to her ground till the end.
I would say #ToiletEkPremKatha ne Gadar Macha Di.
